Well, everyone loves ghost stories, don't they? One night I was working shifts and listening to Michael Hordern reading M R James on a walkman - a security guard arrived from the door behind me and, well, I had to be peeled off the ceiling...
M R James is, in my opinion, the best ghost story writer. He realised that what you imagine is far, far more terrible than what he could write. So he suggests what you might imagine.
